During a pumped up spirit week, everyone got out of hand Wednesday for crazy hat day, and everyone dressed backwards on Thursday. Friday, all of the villages competed in a series of activities to determine the winner of Spirit Day.

Spirit Day included activities such as a spelling bee, a trivia challenge and a really big relay race that involved things like chewing crackers while whistling and chewing a piece of bubble gum and blowing a bubble with it.

Before Friday’s events, many people started making predictions on who would win the Most Spirited award, which would give that winning village an ice cream party.

Amelio Joseph was one of the people that made a prediction about spirit day.
“My view on Spirit day is that Village 5 will win. Village 5 will blow the roof off the place,” he said.

Amelio said he loves coming to Breakthrough everyday because he knows “there’s going to be excitement.”

Even after Amelio’s prediction didn’t come true on Friday, Amelio had only positive things to say about his village.
“I thought that Village 5 was going to win the Most Spirited but even though we loss I still think we’re the Most Spirited”

Ricardo also said he predicted his own village, Village 3, to win Most Spirited.
“I’m very excited about Spirit Week. I feel energized,” first-year Breakthrough student Ricardo Fortune said.

Before Spirit Day; Jori Opara from Village 1 said “I really like Breakthrough. I love it actually. I like the fact that Breakthrough is like a school but it’s not. It’s more fun!”

“Spirit day was very fun. I liked that each village had sportsmanship. Now that spirit day is over I think the rest of the summer will be great,” Jori said.
